An independent broker helps navigate the market
Insurance companies decide what risks they will consider, what information they require and the terms they are prepared to offer. Those appetites can change. Westoak’s role as an independent brokerage is to understand the client, prepare a clear submission and help compare suitable options that are available to us.
We do not publish a permanent insurer list on this page because appointments, product availability and underwriting appetite must be current and verified. Ask us which markets are being considered for your specific account.
Price is only one comparison point
Two policies with similar premiums can differ in important ways. A useful review considers:
- Coverage grants, limits, sublimits and deductibles
- Exclusions, warranties and conditions
- Valuation and claim-settlement provisions
- Eligibility requirements and payment terms
- Insurer claims service and financial considerations
- How the policy fits with other personal or business coverage
The lowest premium is not automatically the best value. We explain material differences we identify so the client can make an informed decision, while the policy wording remains the governing contract.
A complete submission creates better decisions
Insurers rely on accurate details about property, operations, drivers, prior insurance and losses. Clients should disclose material facts and report changes. Westoak organizes information, asks follow-up questions and may approach selected insurers whose current appetite appears relevant.
Not every insurer will quote every risk, and a request for terms does not bind coverage. Final eligibility, pricing and wording are determined by the insurer.
Renewal is a fresh review, not an automatic repeat
At renewal, changes in values, activities, claims, insurer appetite and the wider market can affect terms. Tell us about renovations, new locations, vehicles, operators, revenue, contracts or acquisitions before renewal—or sooner when the change occurs.
When a market comparison is appropriate, sufficient lead time helps. Some insurers require applications, valuations, inspections or loss-control information before providing terms.
Verify the people and firms you work with
The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario provides information about consumer rights and a public broker-search service. Westoak also maintains a RIBO fact sheet with the identifiers clients can use when checking public records.
