Choose the guide that matches the vehicle and use
Auto insurance is not a single, interchangeable product. A daily-use car, a motorcycle, a collector vehicle and a vehicle used for ride-sharing present different questions about operators, mileage, storage, modifications and acceptable use. Start with the car insurance guide for a standard passenger vehicle, or select the more specific guide listed above when another use applies.
Review current Ontario choices at renewal
Ontario drivers must carry automobile insurance. The current standard policy includes third-party liability, uninsured automobile protection and mandatory medical, rehabilitation and attendant-care accident benefits. Other accident benefits became optional for policies entered into or renewed on or after July 1, 2026, subject to transition rules for existing selections. Direct Compensation–Property Damage can also be declined in writing.
Those choices deserve a deliberate conversation rather than an assumption that last year’s selections still fit. The detailed car insurance page explains the July 2026 benefit changes and DCPD decision; the issued policy and endorsements determine the actual protection.
Match the submission to the risk
Prepare licence and vehicle information, annual distance, commute, business use, household or regular drivers, prior coverage and claims, and the required start date. Disclose delivery or ride-sharing activity, modifications and seasonal storage. For specialized situations, review the dedicated motorcycle and scooter, collectible vehicle or high-value vehicle guide before requesting terms.
Westoak can organize the information, explain available options and approach the insurers it works with. Eligibility, price and final wording remain subject to insurer underwriting.
